Jhonen Vasquez is an American comic book writer, artist, and animator. He is best known for creating the original comic book series "Johnny the Homicidal Maniac" and for his work on the animated television series "Invader Zim."

Vasquez was born on September 1, 1974, in San Jose, California. He attended De Anza College in Cupertino, California, where he studied film and video.

In 1995, Vasquez self-published the first issue of "Johnny the Homicidal Maniac," a dark and twisted comic series that gained a cult following. This was followed by several other comic series, including "Squee!" and "I Feel Sick."

In 2001, Vasquez created the animated television series "Invader Zim" for Nickelodeon. The show followed the adventures of an alien named Zim who tried to conquer Earth with his malfunctioning robot sidekick GIR. Despite its short run, "Invader Zim" gained a dedicated fanbase and has since become a cult classic.

Vasquez has continued to work on various comic projects and has also worked as a writer and storyboard artist on other animated shows, including "The Venture Bros." and "Rick and Morty."
